It’s pronounced “Kiri-bass,” Kim, and after getting a private dance show from village children, and visiting homes made from old Japanese bunkers, I found a peaceful Kim’s View near Red Beach, where seventy years ago thousands of soldiers—on both sides—were killed in the three-day Battle of Tarawa.
