South Africa gets your blood flowing, Sis! In Johannesburg, the Apartheid Museum is a must-see, and my bike tour of Soweto was a real eye-opener. But street robbers were a very real threat—two of my hostel mates were robbed at knifepoint—for both locals and tourists. Kim’s View at the Cape of Good Hope is sweet. Cape Town was much safer, they had police and security guards everywhere. And the walking tour was fascinating; our ‘storyteller’ teared up while giving us examples of how racism and discrimination are still just below the surface.
